Take a screenshot on the iPad, then bring it here to annotate and copy the marked-up version straight to the clipboard.
Press Top+Volume Up for a screenshot, or swipe up from a bottom corner with the Apple Pencil.
You can also drag an image in from Photos in Split View, or press ⌘V with a keyboard attached.
